Feedback on negative topics
A three-hour workshop with improv actors for a team that wasn't talking through its problems.
Challenge
A new manager found that her team wasn't communicating clearly: problems and conflicts weren't being resolved with each other, but through her. This hurt both how the team worked and how it held together.
Solution
- Actors played out conflict-laden negotiation situations, and the participants directed the outcome.
- In small groups, we practised attitude, body language, asking questions and structuring messages.
- Then the participants took the actors' place.
- We recorded the situations on camera so they could later see themselves from a new perspective.
Result
An entertaining and useful session, with recordings the participants kept for further learning.
